May 21, 1844
May 21, 1844 is the birthday of the artist Henry Rousseau. Perhaps his most famous painting shows a tiger in the jungle, but he also painted cat cats---His portrait of Pierre Loti is an example. Apparently from a photo Rousseau painted this French writer holding his cat in his arms, in 1891.
