Henri Cartier-Bresson (August 22, 1908 to August 3, 2004) was a French photographer said to have pioneered a candid photographic ethos. His titles also capture a directness: the one above is titled "Cat on a Window Ledge"  and dates to 1955.

Here we see a cat in front of a window. not behind it, not safe, but free.
