of historical trivia regarding books, cats, and other animals. Actually this blog has evolved so that it is described better as a blog about cats in history and culture. Will Rogers (November 4, 1879 to August 15, 1935) still shines as America's real spokesperson. Here is one of his lesser known quotes. Regarding the accuracy of books, Will Rogers said ---

People are like a Cat when it comes to their lives, they have at least nine, and they can pick out the one to write about that they think will look best.

He's not talking about pet books here.

We found this in The Papers of Will Rogers: The final years, August 1928-August 1935, edited by Steven K. Gragert and others.

His death in a plane crash is a famous death. Less well known is that Wiley Post had cobbled some mechanical aspects of that plane with parts that were not designed to fit together. That's what you have to do on the frontier. Will Rogers cobbled some of America's best sentiments together.
