Kahler also came to San Francisco ... and opened a studio there. Kahler would paint portraits of people and pets. He was well known for his cat paintings. He was an “erratic genius” who would destroy his paintings or leave them unfinished if he lost interest.
Here is an example of one in which he did not lose interest.
Some reports indicate Kahler died in the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco. That event began on April 18 of the year.
