George Pollock (March 27, 1907 to December 22, 1979) was a British movie director. His early directorial successes included his movies featuring Miss Marple. Murder, She Said (1961) was the first time Christie's redoubtable spinster was presented in cinematic form. He followed that up with Murder at the Gallop (1963). Margaret Rutherford again played Miss Marple in this version of Christie's After The Funeral (1953). Pollock's film involved significant differences from Christie's original. Christie wrote it with Poirot as the detective. Pollock had it adapted, and made a cat, not in Christie's plot, play a pivotal role. The fact a cat was in the house of the murder victim is significant since Marple knew the victim was terrified of cats. She traces that clue to a denouement.
Pollack made more Christie movies, two starring Margaret Rutherford as Miss Marple, and all successful.
