The Book, Cat, & Cat Book Lovers Almanac

of historical trivia regarding books, cats, and other animals. Actually this blog has evolved so that it is described better as a blog about cats in history and culture. And we take as a theme the advice of Aldous Huxley: If you want to be a writer, get some cats. Don't forget to see the archived articles linked at the bottom of the page.

Alternate Gerrolds: An Assortment of Fictitious Lives, (2004) is a collection of stories written by the science fiction author David Gerrold (born January 24, 1944).  One of the stories involves a company which exists to make monsters, using DNA splicing. for Star Trek.  One of the mutants is a green cat. Before they could cash in on the marketing gimmickry- they envisaged green kittens for the Christmas market,-- before the filming could even start, the cat died.

David Gerrold has a long bibliography, of which I will just mention, The Flying Sorcerers (1978) and, The Trouble with Triibbles (1973). This last details his breakthrough start in science fiction, writing for Star Trek: Gerrold is the author of that classic Star Trek episode, "The Trouble with Tribbles."
