October 17, 1946

Sir Cameron Mackintosh (October 17, 1946) is a theater producer connected with lots of successful productions. Cats is one of these. In 1981 few thought Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats had much chance of success. MacKintosh did. He became famous for leveraging a global market for theatre productions with tight quality control over the local productions. His support for gay causes is also notable. In 1996 he was knighted.
