March 21, 1763

Jean Paul Richter, sometimes referred to simply as Jean Paul, (March 21, 1763 to November 14, 1825), was a German writer, part of the Romantic movement. This author of humorous stories, often with an admixture of fantasy, was well received. His aphorisms are perceptive:

A man never describes his own character so clearly as when he describes another.

Because the heart beats under a covering of hair, of fur, feathers, or wings, it is, for that reason, to be of no account?
