Aug. 22, 1912
August 22, 1912, is the birth date of Edith Porada, the art historian and archaeologist. She specialized in the near east and part of her genius lay in her ability to surmise about culture from the iconography of the art. For example she might study a cylinder seal which depicted a nude bearded hero, flanked by winged lion demons & with a star at either side of his head. This description was included in her publication: Corpus of ancient near Eastern seals: in North American collections which she co-authored in 1948.
