June 16, 1963

June 16, 1963 is the death date for John Cowper Powys, the Welsh author of long novels that most now have to struggle to get through (like Wolf Solent.) But in his day he was considered a leading literary light, and he kept cats. He felt guilty over one cat, Sintran, getting run over, and over Mees, whom he had put down when returning to England. His cat Yeo was a Manx.
