April 22, 1899

Some sources say Vladimir Nabokov was born on April 22, 1899. His book King, Queen, Knave, has this passage involving a cat:

"As she passed the cat's chair, she tilted it and said "Shoo," and the cat,
magically four-legged again, slipped off the seat and vanished."

Perhaps Nabokov was jealous of the cat's butterfly catching abilities.
