The Book, Cat, & Cat Book Lovers Almanac

of historical trivia regarding books, cats, and other animals. Actually this blog has evolved so that it is described better as a blog about cats in history and culture. And we take as a theme the advice of Aldous Huxley: If you want to be a writer, get some cats. Don't forget to see the archived articles linked at the bottom of the page.

Hendrik Maarten Krabbé (May 4, 1868 to December 22, 1931), the Dutch painter, was married to Miep Rust (1874-1956). We have several pictures he did below. The cats in them seem integral to a simple life, a life which was, as he painted, changing. And he was part of the future: his son Maarten Krabbe was a famous painter, and his grandson, Jeroen Krabbe, was famous in the arts as an actor and director. Jeroem's son, Jasper Krabbe is also a painter.
