His Who's Who article notes that his marriage in 1970, to Pauline Rowley, produced a son and daughter. Woodrow's sculpture was represented in group exhibitions worldwide, including: "British Sculpture in the 20th Century," at Whitechapel Art Gallery, 1981. His solo shows are many, including "Fools’ Gold," at the Tate Gallery, in 1996. Just a few of his installations are "Regardless of History, for Fourth Plinth", Trafalgar Square, 2000 and "The Beekeeper", S. London Gallery, 2001. William Robert Woodrow also has represented Great Britain at a number of biennials. He was a trustee at the Tate Gallery
from 1996–2001. Woodrow was made a Royal Academician in 2002.
