October 18, 1850

Louis-Maurice Boutet de Monvel (October 18, 1850 to March 16, 1913) was a French artist. He gained fame for his illustrations of children's books.




The son of Louis-Maurice Boutet de Monvel,  named Bernard Boutet De Monvel (1881 to 1949), was also an artist, in fact one more famous.

According to a Sotheby's note the son was "in his time... dubbed the most fashionable of society artists and the best-looking man in Europe ..."
