The Book, Cat, & Cat Book Lovers Almanac

of historical trivia regarding books, cats, and other animals. Actually this blog has evolved so that it is described better as a blog about cats in history and culture. And we take as a theme the advice of Aldous Huxley: If you want to be a writer, get some cats. Don't forget to see the archived articles linked at the bottom of the page.

A. J. P. Taylor (March 25, 1906 to September 7, 1990) was a major historian of European history. Although his background was wealthy he endorsed the politcal views of British labor in various degrees throughout his life. This life included a large number of books in which he presented views not shared by his colleagues. Such as that though the Nazis leveraged the Reichstag fire, they did not actually start it, that the major powers before World War I never intended to go to war, and in fact that Hitler pursued policies which were typically European.

This historian not only wrote his memoirs, but was the subject of, several biographies.

A.J.P. Taylor: a biography (Adam Sisman, 1994)
Troublemaker: The Life and History of A. J. P. Taylor (Kathleen Burk , 2002)

A.J.P.Taylor: Radical Historian of Europe (C.J. Wrigley, 2006)

All of these books mention Taylor's affection for cats.
