According to the story on her husband's website, Julia Trevelyan Oman ( 11 July 11, 1930 to October 10, 2003, 'was.... a member of a distinguished intellectual family that included her grandfather, Sir Charles Oman, Chicheley Professor of Modern History at Oxford. Her training as a designer was at Wimbledon School of Art and at the Royal College from which she entered the BBC. She later had a distinguished career as a designer for films and the theatre with productions all over the world.'

This career included the designer of the year award for her sets for Jonathan Miller's production of Alice in Wonderland (1966), and a CBE in 1986.

She and her husband the historian Roy Strong, both loved cats.This picture includes one of their kitties with Julia.
