An obituary:

Rosemary G. Walker, 87, of Sawdust Road, passed away late Wednesday afternoon (April 7, 2010) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.
Rosemary was born on Aug. 1, 1922 in Wayland, [Steuben County, New York] the daughter of Thomas and Gertrude (Schumacher) Miller. She grew up in Wayland and graduated with honors from Wayland Central School and had remained a life resident of the Wayland area. Rosemary and Ernie R. Walker were married on Nov. 13, 1943 and together celebrated over 61 years of marriage prior to Ernie passing away in February 2005. The majority of her working career was spent at Birdseye Foods in Avon, retiring from there as a supervisor.
Rosemary was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Wayland and was also a member of the Legion of Mary, [a Catholic lay group] the Wayland Historical Society and the Golden Agers. She enjoyed swimming and gardening, however spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was what she mostly enjoyed. Rosemary will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Rosemary was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Gertrude Miller; her loving husband, Ernie; a daughter, Sherie Walker; a sister, Velma Wager; and two brothers, Melvin Miller and Otto Rauber.
She is survived by her children, Lois (Dan) Topolski of Rochester, Joan (Tom)?Wamp of Dansville, Ted (Sue) Walker of Cohocton, Mary (Marc) Dunn of Pendleton; grandchildren, Mike (Julia) Wamp of Skaneateles, Stephen (Suzanne) Wamp of Farmington, JoElyn Topolski of Rochester, Daniel Topolski of San Francisco, Jill (Douglas) Lyon of Tully, Greg Walker of Cohocton, Sarah Dunn of Pittsburgh, Katie Dunn of San Diego, Meghan Dunn of Troy and Matthew Dunn of Newfane; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Max and Elizabeth Wamp and Garrett Lyon; several nieces and nephews; her constant companion, “Midnight,” the cat; and her loyal caregivers Carol Smith Morgan and Waneeta Davis, whose loving care allowed Mom to live at her beloved farm enabling her to enjoy her birds, geese, deer and other wildlife.
Rosemary’s family and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the St. George-Stanton Funeral Home, 109 W. Naples St., Wayland. A prayer service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for her at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Church in Wayland. Interment and committal prayers will take place immediately following at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Wayland. Contributions in Rosemary Walker’s memory may be made to the Hearthside Cats, P.O.
