July 9, 1887

This is a thumbnail of a rendering by James Ormsbee Chapin, or so I have seen it attributed.

James Ormsbee Chapin (July 9, 1887 to July 12, 1975) was an American painter and illustrator. He was Harry Chapin's grandfather.
Some of his art was commissioned as cover art by Time magazine. Chapin also did art for advertisers such as Maxwell House coffee, and book covers.

There is a biographical sketch at the Delaware Art Museum.
