Ted Whitehead, (April 3, 1933) is a British writer. The playwright is described by Oxford Reference as 'The author of powerful Strindbergian studies of working-class sexual relationships, he highlights domestic brutality and male bafflement.' Besides his works like Alpha Beta (1972) and The Man Who Fell in Love with His Wife (1984), Whitehead's Who's Who article lists the titles:

The Foursome, (1972), 
 The Sea Anchor, (1975),
Old Flames, (1976),
The Punishment, (1976), 
Mecca, (1977),
World’s End, (1981).

This Cambridge graduate has also written many adapatations for television, such as The Life and Loves of a She-Devil, and The Mayor of Casterbridge.
