of historical trivia regarding books, cats, and other animals. Actually this blog has evolved so that it is described better as a blog about cats in history and culture. January 13, 1961

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was born January 13, 1961 in Manhattan into a wealthy family, connected with the Dreyfus Fund. Her great-grandmother was mentioned a vignette reported in the Wall Street Journal (by Kevin Hagen). The context is a recollection by Julia's father, William Louis-Dreyfus (1932-2016):

'[Her father] remembers as a child the impression it made when his wealthy grandmother ignored a beggar on the street, explaining that he might be faking his poverty.

'"It was a very surprising comment, if I think about my grandmother, who I thought I liked," Mr. Louis-Dreyfus said. He added sarcastically, "You have to forgive the rich sometimes."'

You must admire the creativity of this family.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus keeps knocking out hits. VEEP was a new series in 2012. The New York Times in an April 13, 2012 review used the publicity shot below for her role as Selina Meyers.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, rich in talent, very rich. And rich too.
She must thrive.
