The Book, Cat, & Cat Book Lovers Almanac

of historical trivia regarding books, cats, and other animals. Actually this blog has evolved so that it is described better as a blog about cats in history and culture. And we take as a theme the advice of Aldous Huxley: If you want to be a writer, get some cats. Don't forget to see the archived articles linked at the bottom of the page.

Deborah Eisenberg (November 20, 1945) is an American writer.

Her stories may mention felines, but here I draw attention to a cat incident in a book for which she wrote an introduction--- a reissue of Gregor von Rezzori's Memoirs of an Anti-Semite which first appeared in German in 1979. It concerns the pre-war years in central Europe. And a boy who tries to train his dog to attack cats.

JSTOR reminds us:

"Deborah Eisenberg was recently honored with the PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story. She is only the fourth writer to be honored with both the PEN/Malamud and the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction. Her most recent book is The Collected Stories of Deborah Eisenberg (2010), which gathers the stories in her four of collections in one volume."

Her partner is Wallace Shawn.
