The Book, Cat, & Cat Book Lovers Almanac

of historical trivia regarding books, cats, and other animals. Actually this blog has evolved so that it is described better as a blog about cats in history and culture. And we take as a theme the advice of Aldous Huxley: If you want to be a writer, get some cats. Don't forget to see the archived articles linked at the bottom of the page.

August 16, 2015

It is not yet September 23.

This is Princess, not my usual literary cat reference. She is alive, and her person needs our help. And this post is not my usual date format. For the birthday of Princess's owner, a genteel intellectual elderly gentleman is September 23. But he needs money to pay the rent, the backrent, BEFORE September 24. The story is at the link below. I do not think old people should have to beg. I never imagined this would be necessary when I was young. But begging, and humbly begging, is a modern necessity for many many people. Just to get by. This is not right.

But now, let us go beyond this, and reach out our hearts and wallets to an individual person we do not actually know, but who is nobly trying to get by. It hurts to beg. I fear there are people dying because of their pride. People should not have to wonder where they will live. They should not have to wonder if their loved pet will have medical care when necessary. The link, and their story is below.

Here is the link to give this cat and the man who loves her, some money.

Quoting from this link:

Princess and her old man must raise approximately $14,000 before September 24, 2015. They need the money to settle a back-rent debt with a very patient landlord. Unfortunately, the landlord's patience runs out precisely on that date ...when Princess and Paul will find themselves quite homeless. We're asking for your help to keep this from happening.

The longer story is at the link above.
