of historical trivia regarding books, cats, and other animals. Actually this blog has evolved so that it is described better as a blog about cats in history and culture. Ayn Rand, ( February 2 ,1905 to March 6, 1982) was the controversial proponent of an ethics based on egoism. She influenced many who later became famous and/or important, like Alan Greenspan.

It was Paul Ryan I think, who insisted his staff read some of her books. That was before he got religion, miraculously, while on the campaign trail. But she tried to think for herself, a rare ambition in any society.

I am assuming readers are familiar with her reputation if not her writing. But many are not aware she had cats. Here is a picture of Ayn Rand with her cat "Rocket."
