The Book, Cat, & Cat Book Lovers Almanac

of historical trivia regarding books, cats, and other animals. Actually this blog has evolved so that it is described better as a blog about cats in history and culture. And we take as a theme the advice of Aldous Huxley: If you want to be a writer, get some cats. Don't forget to see the archived articles linked at the bottom of the page.

June 8, 1953

Sam Hood (August 20, 1872 to June 8, 1953) was a photographer based in Sydney Australia. He started as a young man with a camera and anticipated the changing currents as the new medium of photography transformed modern life.

We have a photograph that justifies the artistic fineness of this man who supported a family with the tools of his trade.

This photo can only be dated to between 1939 and 1945, but it speaks of a timeless configuration.  We have love, and death. And a cat. We only now, know the name,  of the cat. Bobbie. Bobbie the Cat is pictured here.
