of historical trivia regarding books, cats, and other animals. Actually this blog has evolved so that it is described better as a blog about cats in history and culture. Emanuel Bronner (February 1, 1908 to March 7, 1997) lost his parents in the holocaust. He himself had emigrated to the United States a few years before the Nazis gained control of Germany. The Heilbronners, for such was his original surname, were part of a long line of soap makers.
It is not clear to me when Bronner formulated his philosophy of one world religion, but it helped him survive incarceration for his mental health. Finally after an aggressive marketing campaign over some years he and his sons had a successful company in California. Bronner said he was worth six million dollars. when interviewed by columnist Cecil Adams, who originally wrote about Bronner on April 22, 1988. Bronner's philosophy has adherents and the product from whence his wealth came is contained in the soap box, or often soap bottle, on which his ideas are printed.

Both Anitra Frazier, and Dr. Pitcairn, separately proponents of holistic pet care, recommend Dr. Bronner's soap for cat shampoo, and litter box cleaning. The purity of the his soap reflects the purity of Bronner's ideas. Of course you have to dilute them.
