November 10, 1859

November 10 (1859) is the birthday of one of history's great cat lovers: Theophile Steinlen. Although he thrived in France, he was actually born in Switzerland. He was a painter, and produced prints, especially posters which have a niche in the history of modernity because of his use of simple layout and bright colors.
