"The Silly Little Mouse" was a film for which Dmitri Shostakovich (September 25, 1906 - August 9, 1975) composed the music. It was an era in which any art was very difficult to create or distribute because of the communist dictatorship. This was a humorous film, possibly a way to avoid censorship, and exists in two versions. In one the cat catches the mouse at the end, and in the other, a dog rescues the mouse. The date was 1939 and was part of a period in which Shostakovich was humiliated and denounced. He survived to receive power and awards from the government.
