June 26, 1830

Gottfried Mind was Swiss, born in Berne, (1768 to November 17, 1814). His constitution is described as delicate and he was barely able to write his name. Apparently he was allowed to do what he wanted growing up. What he wanted to do was draw animals, especially cats. Gottfried Mind has been labeled the Raphael of cats. Today the label autistic is applied to him. His fame as an artist was considerable, and continues. George IV, (August 12 1762 to June 26, 1830) king of England from 1820 to 1830, purchased a Mind drawing, of a cat and kittens, and it hung in a palace, for many years, one reads.
