The Book, Cat, & Cat Book Lovers Almanac

of historical trivia regarding books, cats, and other animals. Actually this blog has evolved so that it is described better as a blog about cats in history and culture. And we take as a theme the advice of Aldous Huxley: If you want to be a writer, get some cats. Don't forget to see the archived articles linked at the bottom of the page.

Beryl Cook (September 10, 1926, to May 28,  2008) painted fat happy people. This British artist is very popular, and finally receiving critical acclaim. She  received an OBE in 1995. Although her people are fat, her cats just look, well,  well-fed. "Cedric the Cat", for instance. Even the painting, "Four Hungry Cats," all of whom are looking at a lobster, are not themselves anything but plump. Beryl was not fat, but she looks positively thin when you see her photograph --

the photographed cat though, is a bit more than "well fed."
